{#12DaysOfDharmaLove} Yoga Challenge! Day 2’s pose is “Pigeon - Kapotasana”! I chose to do the Twisted Double Pigeon Variation, as I’m not feeling well today - Our yoga community places a great deal of importance on stretching… However, constantly stretching the hips is a reflection of a bigger issue – too much stretching and not enough strengthening. We place much more emphasis on flexibility at the expense of stability. Yet it is BALANCE that we strive for?! The ligaments that are too loose cannot hold the structure of the hips together, which means that somebody else has to step up to the plate and your muscles will do it. But the primary job of our muscles allow us to MOVE our body, so they end up doing double duty and that’s a lot of work, especially as we get older… This is why the Equal BALANCE of strength and flexibility creates equanimity in the body. I’m dedicating today’s pose to my boyfriend, who is the constant source of BALANCE in my life and yoga career. He handles the business of yoga, so I can focus on the “teaching” of yoga. I LOVE my boyfriend more than words can express! @dharmabumsactive @amyelandry @kathy0805 @elinorecohen @bryceyoga @miso_healthy @_carlotta_castangia Photo captured by the incredibly talented Ashlee Flaig-Ashley Flaig Photography I’m wearing my AMAZING Dharma Bums - From Studio to Street leggings!!!
